8th grade: Today students related the rules of DOP placement for IOP (Indirect Object Pronouns) and made sentences with the verb Dar (to give) to reflect what a vendor or customer might say while regateando (haggling) for price. We also applied what we know about verbs to conjugate (o – ue) stem changer verbs. We watched a funny video on those verbs and did a worksheet on DAR & DORMIR. No HW!

7th grade: We reviewed our homework that made us conjugate AR verbs from page 109, using Frequency adverbs occasionally (de vez en cuando!). We also recalled that when we have a specific subject we use TENER QUE + VERB to express what a specific person(s) has to do. We also learned that HAY QUE + VERB is used when we don’t have a subject buy we want to make a broad generalization about what “one must do”. No HW other than make sure you are studying for your PBA by making sure you can make the classroom supplies nouns plural and use indefinite articles (un / una / unos/ unas) with them to say what you have.

8th grade: Today we took our U4E1 test and did further review on Artesania. Tomorrow we will do stem changer verbs – (o-ue) and the verb DAR.

7th grade: Today we practiced the Frequency adverbs and did a listening comprehension activity prior to identifying some basic classroom objects with the appropriate indefinite article in the singular and plural forms. You will have a PBA on Monday & an Exam & a more extensive PBA on Tuesday.

HW: Do side 9 of handout using frequency words; side 10 can wait until tomorrow.

8th grade: today we practiced the art of REGATEAR (haggling) by using “Cuanto cuesta” vs. ‘Cuanto cuestan” for singular & plural nouns with market place vocabulary. Test tomorrow will cover the vocab from U4E2, p. 291 “Making Purchases”. Monday’s blog had a helpful website link for games with the new vocabulary. You also need to make sure you can form commands and place a DOP at the end of the affirmative commands. Exercise #2, p. 266 is good practice as well as the reading we did from page 264-65. TEST TOMORROW!

7th Grade: Today we learned several Frequency Words (adverbs) and created a Venn Diagram

1. before verb
2. Expressions after verb
3. Expressions that can go both before and after the verb
Students wrote out activity 12, p. 112 then spoke out activity 13 with partner.
Classwork Handout: MP 37 & 39; (for Act. 21 you should use different verbs from p. 109 or on your Verb list)
HW: WS #5-6.

TEST on TUESDAY & PBA is on MONDAY! HELP SESSION TOMORROW!

8th grade: Today we learned numbers 1-10,000 (keep in mind you would see decimal points instead of commas for separation of numbers in the thousands and beyond, and vice versa for numbers less than one). 2nd period: Make sure you say ‘ciento for numbers 101 – 199′ and __cientos for numbers greater than 200′!

HW: Classzone.com 4.1 quiz on previous chapter; look over grammar & reading from p. 260 – 265. Study new vocabulary 4.2 & do vocab games from the web link I posted on Monday.

7th grade: Today we took our quiz on vocab and AR verbs and subject pronouns. Tomorrow we will start frequency words from page 111. On Monday you will have a PBA on classroom objects and indefinite articles. Our U2E1 exam will be on Tuesday.

8th grade: Today in class we identified items from the market and the custom of negotiating for a good price, known as Regatear. Here’s a good flashcard website with games to practice new vocabulary.

HW: Do practice quiz from Classzone U4E2 and print out for proof by Wednesday.

7th grade: Today we reviewed how to conjugate verbs which end in AR and we created sentences from our ‘checklist’ of school activities. Make sure you have 6 good sentences with various subjects and verbs based on that checklist.

HW: Do the half sheet with the three different sections and be sure to go to page 109 in the text to memorize and conjugate those verbs. I postponed the test until tomorrow to make sure everyone is conjugating correctly. Make sure you also know the classroom objects and subjects. Classzone.com is a good option for you to do flashcards and practice quizzes from chapter U2E1.

8th grade: Today we brainstormed on various ways to politely ask for and respond to requests for directions. Refer to the vocab box on p. 262 & the corresponding activity #18.

Our homework is to create a wordsearch with the vocabulary “Making Purchases” (1st column, p. 291). You will need to hide 15 words & your clues will be in English but you need to hide the Spanish equivalent (no definite articles) on the sheet I gave you.

7th grade: Today we practiced asking questions of our partner (act. 9, p. 110) using the verbs on page 109. We also did three listening comprehension activities about classroom objects and activities. Our test is on MOnday!

8th grade: Today I didn’t meet with my morning classes due to the GA Writing Assessment but you still need to finish your worksheet with commands with activities 9-12 & 20-22, using direct object pronouns when you can. You also need to write out verses to the marching chorus or a rap that uses commands and then the same commands with a DOP attached.

We will have a test next Thursday, January 27 on commands with DOP’s and the new marketplace vocabulary from U4E2, the next chapter.

7th grade: Although we didn’t meet you are still expected to finish your homework by Friday of conjugating 16 verbs which end in -ar. See page 109 for the verb vocab list and an example. Include three from earlier in the year. Write in the Infinitive above the conjugated forms, then define the verb in English. We’ll eventually write a sentence for each verb in the big box on the right of conjugations. Your vocab / grammar test is on Monday and your chapter test is next Friday.

8th grade: Today we practiced putting Direct Object Pronouns on the end of a command (p. 260, act. 13 – 16). We listened to the Patty Lozano ‘Abre tu Libro’. HW: Write out your own version of a Command Song which follows this tune. Be sure to attach the direct object pronoun to the commands when possible. Morning classes also received a worksheet of MP p. 85, 86 & 88. All assignments are due at the start of class on Thursday!

7th: today we reviewed subject pronouns and did activity #7, p. 109 after going over the grammar in which you conjugate a verb whose infinitive ends with ‘AR’. HW is to use the template I gave you to conjugate all 13 AR verbs listed on page 109 vocab box and three more AR verbs from our first Unit: either Cantar / Hablar / Patinar / Nadar / Trabajar/ or Bailar.

8th grade: We reviewed prepositions, commands, transportation, stores & places around town. We also practiced Salir & Decir. Test tomorrow!

7th grade: Today we learned how to express obligation using ‘TENER + QUE + (Action Verb in the Infinitive form). We also learned vocabulary for school subjects and reviewed classroom objects.

HW: Tener que WS & computer vocab WS.

8th grade: Today we practiced the verbs salir & decir, reviewed transportation. HW: Finish WS using SALIR DE or SALIR PARA in your answers using the modes of transportation and the stores/ places around town vocabulary.

7th grade: Today we finished the classroom objects vocabulary and did an information gap to practice numbers and making nouns plural. HW: Write out the vocab words from the back of the worksheet using definite and indefinite articles and the appropriate singular or plural form of the noun.
