Today we wrote rough drafts using what we learned in Unit 4, chapters 2 & 3 to describe what gifts we are giving various people.  You can either address your letter to Grandma or Papa Noel thanking them for money or gifts and then continuing with the body of the letter that consists of sentences which outline what you are gifting.

Grammar to include:

IOP’s (U4E2, p. 281) me, te, le, nos, os, les.  You must have a minimum of 5 indirect object pronouns, including ‘me’ & ‘les’ to describe who is receiving the gift.

Personal ‘A’: whenever you mention someone by name who is not the subject of the sentence, they must have an ‘a’ before their name.

Wide variety of Verbs to denote gifting: You can use verbs (don’t forget your helping verbs) to tell what you are buying for others.   Dar / Comprar / Regalar / Traer.   Think also of what phrases you used in the restaurant to order:  Querer (Quisiera); Me gustaría; Me trae; Pido;

Creativity! Imagine you are in Oaxaca buying gifts.  What would you get for your friends and family and self?  Attached is a vocab list of animal body parts if you want to describe your alebrije purchase!

Tomorrow we will write our final draft and if we have time, decorate our letters for display.  I will grade these over the holiday & it will be the first grade you receive for your second semester’s average.  Don’t forget it is the 2nd semester grade that goes on your high school transcript.  Read below for extra credit opportunity over the break!
